Iran film ‘Israfil’ to vie in Sweden's Göteborg filmfest

Iranian film ‘Israfil’ is chosen to take part in the 41st Göteborg Film Festival in Sweden.

Iranian film ‘Israfil’ by director Ida Panahandeh has been chosen to take part in the 41st Göteborg Film Festival in Sweden.

‘Israfil’ will be going head-to-head with films from other countries in the competition section of the 41st Göteborg Film Festival in Sweden.

The film, which is a follow-up to Panahandeh’s first film ‘Nahid’, deals with human challenges and needs.

‘Israfil’ narrates the story of the widowed Mahi, who loses her only son. An old acquaintance appears at the funeral, with emotional entanglements following three characters, which have to make decisions not only about their emotions, but also their future lives.

Considered as the largest film festival in all of Scandinavia, the Göteborg Film Festival is held from January 26 to February 5 in the city of Gothenburg.

Launched in 1979, the film festival screens around 450 films from 60 countries.

Iranian documentary ‘Invincible Diplomacy of Mr. Naderi’ has also been accepted into the competition section of the Swedish film event.
